Mick Hucknall says Simply Red will break up in 2009
Mick Hucknall of the pop group Simply Red says the band is to split up in 2009, 25 years after they first got established.

Mick Hucknall, 47, said Stay, which was released last March, would be Simply Red's last studio album, and they would break up after their tour in another two years' time.

Simply RedMick Hucknall says that he wants to focus more on his solo career, and he has just finished an album of his own, which is a tribute to blues and R&B artist Bobby Bland.

Mick Hucknall also explained that he hoped to "invent a new form of music", deriving inspiration from R&B music from the 1960s.

Stay was the third album that went out on Simply Red's own label, and it got to number four in the British charts.

The World and You Tonight, which was taken from the album and was released as a single in September will be Simply Red's final single.
