Pop singer Madonna signs with Live NationPop singer and actress Madonna has signed a recording and touring contract with concert promoter Live Nation, and in doing so, becomes the first big star to opt for an all-in-one agreement with a tour company rather than a traditional recording contract.
The new contract Madonna, 49, is signing with Live Nation is said to be worth $120m (£59m) over 10 years, and closes her 25-years of being with the Warner Music record company.
Live Nation will have the rights to all Madonna’s music-related projects - including albums, tours, merchandise, websites, DVDs, sponsorship, TV programmes and movies. Madonna, who has become a shareholder in Live Nation, has explained that the new contract she is signing offered her the chance of trying out new models of music distribution. Madonna still has one more album to make for Warner Music, and which is due next year, before she parts company with them completely.
