The community group is having legal action taken against them by lawyers for Penguin India on behalf of JK Rowling and Warner Brothers who hold the rights to everything to do with Harry Potter in India.
The community group say that they make a different model each year and this time they chose the Hogwarts School and full size models of boy wizard Harry Potter and his friends. However, JK Rowling’s lawyers claim that the organisers did not seek permission, and so the group is being sued for breach of copyright.
Many people feel that JK Rowling and her legal team are just spoiling the fun at the time of a religious celebration, but Warner Brothers said: "Sadly, the organisers of this large-scale commercially sponsored event did not approach us for permission to go ahead."
Press reports in India say that possible fines could come to as much as two million rupees ($50,000) but the community group say they cannot afford to pay in any case. A court in Delhi, will start hearing the case on Friday, it has been reported.
