Fashion industry fur protest by PETA
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are carrying on their campaign against the use of animal fur in the fashion industry and they have produced much evidence showing that the Chinese fur industry is skinning cats and dogs alive for use in clothes and to make fashion accessories.

PETA point out that grisly evidence was recently discovered in European stores, when a coat stitched together from 40 German shepherd puppies and a rug made from four golden retrievers was found.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)PETA claim that the fashion industry has a terrible secret and that secret is where a lot of the fur comes from. Many of the fur items on sale today, the animal rights group says, are made from domestic dogs and cats.

PETA say that the fur of cats and dogs is falsely labelled as Asian jackal, raccoon, or even rabbit, and that these animals were often once people’s pets that have ended up like this.

PETA say that this is the dirty secret of the Chinese fur industry and the international fur trade that supports it, and that they have evidence that backs up their claims, discovered in a daring undercover investigation.

PETA investigators went into an animal market in Southern China and saw cats and dogs suffering badly, with as many as 20 cats crammed into a tiny cage.

PETA state that these are the animals who end up as fur collars on coats or as lining for winter boots or gloves and that the fur is sold to unsuspecting consumers in some of the most well known American and European shops.

However, PETA have claimed victories too and have persuaded a growing number of fashion houses and designers to drop the use of animal fur from their range. Polo Ralph Lauren has taken out all fur from its clothing lines shortly after meeting with PETA representatives.
