50 Cent and Lil' Kim sued by New York producer Carlos Evans
Carlos Evans, who is a New York music producer is suing rap stars 50 Cent and Lil' Kim, and alleges that royalties are owing to him from the song Magic Stick that the rappers performed between them.

Carlos Evans, who calls himself Phantom of the Beat, claims that his requests for the royalties on the 2003 track Magic Stick have not been responded to by Atlantic Records.

50 CentMagic Stick was released on Lil' Kim's 2003 album La Bella Mafia and got to number two in the Billboard Hot 100.

A spokesperson on behalf of 50 Cent said Carlos Evans would be paid as soon as a sample he used had been licensed and payment had gone through.

Carlos Evans maintains that he was promised $7,500 (£3,700) advance plus royalties for producing, engineering and mixing Magic Stick but that he has had nothing apart from an advance from Rotten Apple Records, who are a subsidiary of the Atlanic label.

Carlos Evans is seeking $2m (£1m) damages but there is no comment as yet from Atlantic Records.
