France rugby coach Bernard Laporte still confident
France rugby coach Bernard Laporte is still confident that Les Bleus can make a comeback after their disappointing 17-12 defeat by Argentina in the World Cup, and he said: "We won't let our heads drop - France will still play a key role in this World Cup."

Bernard Laporte thought that his side’s expectations were too high and that was to prove their downfall and he also said: "We were fragile and we couldn't cope with the pressure."

Bernard LaporteBut now if France are to make it through to becoming world champions for the first time, they will also have to make rugby history because no team has ever won the World Cup after losing the opening match.

France were the favourites before their loss to Argentina and were to face a likely home quarter-final against either Scotland or Italy, however, now they must fight to avoid being eliminated.

France will now have to defeat Ireland in Paris on 21 September to reach the last eight.
