
Consultations have suggested that the public were "at ease" with the idea if they have it explained that the embryos could aid research on remedies for serious conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, but other people might view the plan as another example of “Frankenstein science” and be horrified by it being allowed.
Scientists say they hope to create hybrid embryos by combining human cells with animal eggs with the aim of extracting stem cells, which they claim are essential for research.
