French President Nicolas Sarkozy is going to be visiting Great Britain accompanied by his wife Carla Bruni.

President Nicolas Sarkozy is hoping to improve ties between the two countries to the degree that he is asking for the UK to work “hand in glove” with France to tackle various current issues including immigration.

During his two-day visit to Britain, French President Nicolas Sarkozy will be a guest of the Queen at Windsor Castle and he will be addressing both Houses of Parliament as well as holding talks with Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

As well as his new wife, Carla Bruni, Nicolas Sarkozy’s mother will also be accompanying the president on his British visit, which will be the first full state visit by a French president to the UK for 12 years.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are meeting President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife and mother at Heathrow airport.

On the Thursday of his trip to Britain, President Nicolas Sarkozy is co-hosting a Franco-British summit at Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates stadium in London.
