I have many fond memories of summer holidays in France. Whether on the southern coast or deep in the Dordogne, there are some marvellous places to discover and then explore and one of the nicest ways to do this is to rent a house for a couple of weeks during the holiday season.
There is a vast selection of properties available for rent, from the modern home to the more traditional houses which are so typical of the regions of France. We as a family, always like to find a property that has all the character you would expect of the country, but with all the modern facilities too and this includes a pool.
If you are heading off for a holiday to the south of France, there are some superb properties for rent for the summer. Of course the closer the property is to the coast the more expensive these tend to be, but there are some lovely houses, villas and apartments not too far from the sea which are very affordable options.
We all like to enjoy the summer sunshine and visiting Provence and the Cote d’Azur guarantees that you will be able to do just this. A lot of properties do have their own swimming pools and with temperatures getting up the thirties, a dip in a pool is an essential part of the day.
But there are many regions of France which are lovely during the summer months and I love to go to the Bordeaux region and of course Biarritz which for decades has attracted many visitors from all over the globe. This is a wonderful area that offers so much in the way of private rental properties. The climate is superb and there is so much to do and see in the region, including sampling the wonderful selection of fine wines and local produce like foie gras and confit de canard.
Finding the perfect location can be fun especially if it is a family affair and with the advent of the Internet you get to see the places you are interested in before you even get there. This is a great way of finding the ideal place to go on holiday with your family or friends.
I know that when we have rented a place in France for our summer holidays, we always have a few friends join us for a couple of days. This is something that could not happen if we stayed at a hotel and it is one of the reasons we like to rent a house for our holidays in France. It becomes such a social affair that everyone really enjoys.
If you are looking for a secluded place to just kick back and relax spending some quality time in France, I highly recommend looking at renting a property for a couple of weeks. I know that we do eat at the houses we rent occasionally but most of the time we enjoy an evening meal in a local restaurant so that we can sample the delights of the region. But I think because the choice is there of whether or not we stay in for a lunch time or an evening meal makes it all that more enjoyable.
